Case 1: Brampton Youth Hockey Association

Brampton is the third-largest city in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario and the Brampton Youth Hockey Association is Ontario's single largest community based non-profit hockey association with approximately 4,000 members. The Brampton Youth Hockey Association (BYHA) needed to find a better way to manage information within the organization.

Servicad worked with the BYHA to design a web based organizational management database that could be used by management to streamline operations. The data management system replaced existing paper based processes and is responsible for management of approximately $1.5 Million dollars in annual ice time books bookings, the scheduling of all practices and hockey games, and the management of volunteer personal information management.

To keep costs low, Servicad used leading open source technologies that were freely available including LAMP technologies of Linux, Apache, PHP and MySQL.

Case 2: Trident Group

Trident Group provides Maritime security services to the passenger ships, cargo ships, and the ports and harbors industry. The Trident Group coordinates closely with local, state, and federal industries and works to provide a secure environment for their clients. To provide Maritime security services Trident Group works with a network of former military personnel. To ensure that clients are paired with the right contractors Trident Group has an extensive screening process for new hires.

Before Trident Group came to Servicad their application process relied on Word documents being filled out by contractors. This process made it difficult to search application for the right contractors, and represented “information silos” that were not being integrated with business processes.

Servicad was able to develop a secure online database where applications can sign up for an account and complete applications online. Applicants can also upload documents which become part of their file making it easier for Trident Group to manage applicant information.

Case 3: British Overseas Gifts

British Overseas Gifts operating since 1974 as “Gifts-to-Britain” is a retailer of gift packages and flowers for delivery to the UK. Gifts-to-Britain needed to update an existing and dated ecommerce site with a solution that had better usability and functionality. Gifts-to-Britain needed a system that would allow online shoppers to make purchases, as well as a system that would allow staff to take telephone orders. In addition to these requirements Gifts-to-Britain also needed email marketing capabilities and custom functionality developed for segmenting daily orders into batches to be sent to the proper supplier each night.

Servicad was able to quickly develop a solution for Gifts-to-Britain using industry leading Interspire software. As an authorized reseller for Interspire, Servicad developed a solution around Interspire Shopping Cart and Interspire Email Marketer. Interspire Shopping Cart's plug in architecture and open source code made it easy to develop the custom functionality required by the client. By integrating the two products Servicad was able to deliver the required functionality on time and on budget.
